JETIQARAQSHY SCREENINGS OF DOCUMENTARY FILMS
From October 20 to November 10, as part of the ARTBAT FEST modern art festival, audiences enjoyed documentary hits from Kazakhstani and global cinema in 2023, as well as short films by documentary filmmakers from Central Asia.
Among the Kazakhstani films were three premieres: "Jel paida bolǵan jer" by Janibek Murtazin, "Voice of the Glacier" by Yadykar Ibraimov, and "My father Genghis Khan" by Almira Saifullina.
The global premieres included "Aurora's Sunrise" from Armenia by Inna Saakyan, "Twice Colonized" from Denmark by Lin Alluna, and "Life of Ivanna" from Siberia by Renato Borrayo Serrano.

Every Friday, audiences watched two films—one Kazakhstani and one international—followed by discussions on the cinematic dialogue between these films during a panel with invited experts, researchers, film professionals, and artists. The discussions took place in Kazakh, Russian, and English.
The event was organized by the Women Make Docs collective for documentary filmmakers in Central Asia, in collaboration with the cultural and educational center Egin, and in partnership with the company CITIX, which provided the venue and support to foster the development of creative industries.
